Summary
Elders IXL was formed in 1982 by the merger of Elder Smith Goldsbrough Mort and Henry Jones IXL. In 1982 Elders IXL acquired UK based Woodhall Trust plc (which included Australian Mercantile Land & Finance Company), and the following year the company was re-organised in the following divisions: Pastoral, International, Finance, Materials and Food. Following the acquisition of Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) (1983), the divisions became: Pastoral, Carlton, Finance and International and a number of other business were sold. In 1987 the Company was re-structured as the Elders Brewing Group (see Forster's Brewing Group), Elders Agribusiness Group (see Elders Australia Ltd) and Elders Finance Group (see Elders Resources NZFP).
