Summary
Bitumen and Oil Refineries (Australia) Ltd was incorporated in 1946 as the first Australian owned bitumen and oil refinery. Shareholders agreed to a change of name to Boral Ltd in 1963.
In 1988 the Gas Corporation of Tasmania was acquired and integrated into Boral's energy business. This part of the business was renamed Origin Energy in 2000.
