Summary
Originally registered in the United Kingdom in 1904. As a result of an English Court decision on taxation the company was reregistered in Victoria in 1927. Consolidated Investment Co Ltd, which had been incorporated in September 1927 as a vehicle to takeover the assets of the English company, changed it's name two months later to British Tobacco Co (Australia) Ltd. After fifty years of trading under the name of British Tobacco the company changed it's name in 1977 to Allied Manufacturing & Trading Industries Ltd.
