Summary

The company was established in 1853 by Act of Parliament (UK) to take over the Peel River Estate (Goonoo Goonoo) of the Australian Agricultural Company. The Peel Company soon expanded its operations into Queensland and later the Northern Territory. From 1932 its Australian operations were joined managed with those of the Australian Agricultural Co, and the latter acquired the whole shareholding of the Peel River Land and Mineral Co Ltd in 1959.
