Registered in Sydney on July 20, 1891, and reconstructed on August 20, 1915. Federal Hotels Ltd. made an unsuccessful takeover offer in July, 1959. In 1968, the MLC Assurance Co. and Lend Lease Corp. Ltd acquired over 75 per cent of the issued capital. In February 1970, the Hotel was sold at auction to the Mutual Life & Citizen Assurance Co. Ltd.
