Summary

The Wollongong Gaslight Company Limited was registered under the New South Wales Companies Act, 1874 on 5 April 1882. The Company supplied gas for street lighting and domestic purposes from 20 August 1883. Production of gas from coal ceased in 1977 when a pipeline from South Australia began supplying natural gas to the area.
