Summary
A'Beckett was born in London on 13 September 1808. He studied law a Lincoln's Inn and was admitted as a solicitor and attorney in 1829. After migrating to the Port Phillip District of New South Wales (Victoria) in 1850, he was a solicitor, became a Member of the Victorian Legislative Council and was also Chairman of the Melbourne Hobson's Bay Railway Company for over 20 years.
