Summary
ue to tarrif constraints the UK based chocolate and cocoa manufacturer Cadbury Bros decided to establish a new factory in Australia. The site in Claremont, Tasmania was agreed as the best one for chocolate and cocoa production.
The new factory was making Cadbury products by 1923. The new business assumed control of the Australian sales offices and depots that had been established by Cadbury Bros from 1881.
In 1967 the UK head offices of Cadbury and Schweppes agreed to a merger and Cadbury Schweppes PLC was established. The Australian entities merged in 1971.
In 1949 the company established a powered milk factory in Edith Creek, Northern Tasmania. This was sold to Duck River in 1969.
