Summary

In the early 1950s Frank Lowy and John Saunders went into partnership in a delicatessen in Blacktown, N.S.W. They soon saw opportunities in the property development and were advised to form a private company. Westfield Investments Pty Limited was formed in 1956.

This compnay soon began to have a very high volumes of business and Lowy and Saunders were advised to go public. In 1960 Westfield Development Corporation was floated and was listed on the Stock Exchange later in the year.
